Library

Having over 20000 exquisite manuscripts, Malek National Library is one of the six largest collections of manuscript in Iran. Other libraries of this list are National Library, Astan Quds Razavi Library, Islamic Conductive Assembly Library, Grand Ayatollah Mar’ashi Najafi Library and University of Tehran Central Library. Among these, Malek Library is well known to have exquisite artifacts and artworks.

Malek library, in addition to the manuscripts, possesses some 100000 books, 4000 lithograph manuscripts and 900 titles of periodicals and 6000 magazines and journals. A large number of the lithographs are dated to late 19th and early 20th century and are considered as the first lithograph printed books of Iran. Malek Library continues to developing the collection by purchasing the handwritten and lithograph manuscripts.

Except for storage and reading halls, there are also well-equipped workshops and centers for technical preservation including workshop of conservation and restoration of manuscripts, bookbinding workshop, and documentation office for photography and digital conservation.

Publication of the Malek Institution was also established in 1969 to publish the printed copy of manuscripts preserved in Malek Library and relevant literature.
